Hello Ladies!
Lindsey Hawkins (Chapter Advisor) and Cassie Adams (Chapter President) registered for the AOII House yesterday. Instead of using a large amount of our budget on necessities we would rather use it on decorative/furniture items. So Lindsey came up with the great idea of registering for "House Warming" gifts for the new AOII House. Below is the link to the registry. You can also search Bed Bath & Beyond with first name: Alpha Omicron Pi and last name: Sigma Omicron. Please consider purchasing a house warming gift or two. These girls really deserve it. 20 girls will be moving in on Sunday and the all alumnae and collegiate ritual is Sunday, August 18th. So the sooner the better if you plan on making a purchase. Items can be brought to the house on the 18th or you can have them shipped through the registry. They will ship to Lindsey Hawkins' house.
Thanks everybody, see you on the 18th!

AOII's in the community
Hello alumnae! I would like to take a moment to brag on some wonderful people. The AOII's, alumnae & collegians have been very busy in the community, and representing us very well I might add.
Alumna, Megan Haines Morris was awarded the 'Howler Award' at ASU's Pride day last week. This award is given to someone that gives back to ASU through time, talent and spirit. Megan is not only the past AOII chapter advisor, she is also the ASU cheerleading coach. Way to go Megan! So excited for you. This could not have gone to a better or more deserving person.

As many of you know, this past Sunday was Superbowl Sunday. In Jonesboro, AR there is a LARGE fundraiser called the St. Jude Superbowl S'travaganza. 2013 was the 20th year for this amazing event. Over the past 20 years this fundraiser has been able to give back over $2.6 million. This year was even bigger and I'm sure there will be great numbers to report in the next couple of weeks. The family that started this event is Fred & Susan Cathcart of Jonesboro, AR. They lost one of their daughters to childhood cancer. This fundraiser was founded in her memory. Susan is a close family friend of mine and she approached me about having some AOII's help with the check-in process of this event. As you can imagine it takes many volunteers to pull this off when you are hosting around 1,400 people. I said of course and asked the girls if anyone could help. 23 AMAZING ladies said yes and even more would have helped if there wasn't a limit on volunteers. These ladies were a HUGE help in making this event so successful. Big Thank You to Taylor Leslie, Trinity Jones, Colby Hundley, Alex Harrell, Miranda Greenway, Lexie McEntire, Megan Smith, Leigha Blankenship, Keighley Barber, Alex Davis, Allison Nichols, Amy Weaver, Emily Bulkley, Micah Rogers, Katie Aldridge, Jade Martin, Jesika Boles, Beth Massey, Sabrah Futrell, Brooke Hall and Madison Riley. I would also like to thank the 2 AOII alumnae that helped out, Lindsey Hawkins and Breanna Buck. Thanks Ladies!

New Member Dinner 2012
Hello everyone,
Don't forget that next week is New Member Dinner. Wednesday, October 3rd at 6:30. Home of Sarah Wiggins Murphy 2412 Pinnacle Point Dr. Jonesboro, AR 72404.
Sarah's husband and son have been kind enough to offer to cook all the meat so all we are responsible for is appetizers, salads, side dishes, drinks and desserts. I've heard from about 15 of you and so far it looks like we are good on appetizers and desserts. We still need salads, side dishes and more drinks. We are also good on ice and coolers (thank you Micha and Lisa).
Even if you don't have time to make anything don't worry about it, come on out anyway. Please RSVP to me if possible so I can make sure we have plenty of everything.

Great job everyone!
Yesterday was a HUGE success! I'm so proud of our girls. They work so hard and do a great job even with their extremely busy schedules. Thank you to all the alumnae that also showed up. I counted over a dozen that stopped by at some point yesterday just to help out for a little while and say hello. So proud to be an AOII.
The exact numbers aren't in just yet but I'm estimating around $5,000 profit. This money will be split between Arthritis research and 7 year old Zachary Harper who has autism.
Micha Gairhan Kenley (alumna/philanthrophy advisor) and Paige Bevill (collegian) deserve a HUGE round of applause for their hard work. Thank you ladies for putting so much time into this project and for going above and beyond. You are both amazing ladies.

BBQ fundraiser and Senior Induction
Please remember the really important upcoming events.
This Thursday, April 12th is the Strawberry's BBQ fundraiser. The plates are $15 each and they include a HUGE pork steak, scalloped potatoes, beans, slaw and a roll. Please support this fundraiser by purchasing or selling BBQ tickets. There are only 1,200 plates being sold. Get yours now before we sell out. I have tickets at the ASU Cooper Alumni Center if you need any. Checks payable to AOII.
Monday, April 16th is the last alumnae event of the school year and it is also senior induction. We will be inducting the senior class into the alumni chapter. PLEASE try your best to attend. We need a good showing of alumnae support and its always a lot of fun to catch up with everyone. The theme is "Derby" so wear your hats. Home of Marsha Mays Carwell at 7pm. Also, if you could bring a food or drink item that would be great. So far I have only heard from 3 people. Paper products are taken care of.
Cathy Naylor - chip and dip
Caitlin Maki - Salad & dessert
Michelle McCain Wingo - Dessert

Upcoming Fundraisers
We have 2 upcoming fundraisers that I would like for you all to be aware of.
First, the collegians and AAC (advisors) will be selling Strawberry's BBQ plates. For the past couple of years the girls have held this fundraiser and it is always a great success. Each year they pick a deserving child in need of extra funds. The first year they chose Ben Sherman, a local St. Jude patient. Last year they chose Katie Nelson, a local high school student with a very rare disorder. We were able to award Katie with over $5,000. For those of you familiar with Strawberry's BBQ, you know it is delicious. For $15 per plate you get a huge pork steak, beans, slaw, scalloped potatoes and a roll. Trust me, it's a deal. Pick-up will be on Thursday, April 12th from 4:30-6:30pm at the ASU Cooper Alumni Center. You don't even have to get out of your car. Just pull into the circle drive, hand over your tickets. The girls will bring your food to you. How's that for service.
The next fundraiser is our annual Geranium sale. I've attached a flyer for your convenience. I'll also have additional flyers to give to you at the sorority house groundbreaking on Saturday, March 31st 1:00 because I know you all are planning on attending. ;) The geraniums are still $4 each. Red, pink or white geraniums. Place your order through Carolyn Wyatt at The Greek Vine. All her information is listed in the attachment. Order deadline is Monday, May 7th. Pick-up dates are Friday, May 11th 1-5 and Saturday, May 12th 10-3. Just in time for Mother's Day. Please sell sell sell! The money raised from this fundraiser helps go towards our support for the collegiate chapter. Excel scholarship, conferences, etc.
There will not be an alumnae event this month due to spring break and other hectic schedules. We'll count the groundbreaking on the 31st as our March event. April 16th will be the last event of the year. This will be a Kentucky Derby themed event at the home of Marsha Mays Carwell. This is also senior induction. Please plan on attending. Let's show the girls how much alumnae support they have and how great it is to be active in an alumnae chapter after they graduate.
Here are the dates one more time:
•Saturday, March 31st 1:00 - Sorority House Groundbreaking (everyone is invited!)
•Thursday, April 12th 4:30-6:30 - Strawberry's BBQ fundraiser
•Monday, April 16th 6:30 - Last alumnae event of the school year/senior induction

Congrats Girls!
House and lot selected!
Hello ladies,
The house has officially been chosen. It could not have gone any better for us last night. I have attached an artist rendering of our house and the lot layout. We are lot option 4. This is the 2nd closest lot towards campus (our first choice).
Here is the play by play. First round was chosen in order of when we arrived on campus. Alpha Gamma Delta chose first and they chose House option 2. We were next and chose our first choice for lot which was lot option 4. Chi Omega was third and they chose lot option 3. Then Delta Zeta went and chose house option 1. Second round was luck of the draw. Everyone's name went in a bowl and the first name drawn out was us. We chose our first choice for house which was house option 4. Then Chi Omega chose house option 3, Alpha Gamma Delta chose lot option 1 and Delta Zeta chose lot option 2.
We knew from the get go that Alpha Gam wanted House option 2 so that is why we decided to go for our first choice on lot. We chose our lot because it sits up higher than the others (it will still be higher after ground work is done), more convenient parking (no bottleneck problems), equal distance from dumpsters (didn't want too close because of smells) and we didn't want either end lot because of foot traffic and more risk for littering, vandalism, etc. We chose house option 4 as our first choice because of the grand entryway. The artist rendering does not do this house justice. It is amazing in person. The front has a huge rounded entry with curved concrete steps. This will make for beautiful pictures. We chose the patio style that is shown on the lot layouts with lot option 4. If you'll notice, we chose exactly what is pictured, lot 4 with house 4 with the half circle patio with a solid bench. Actually everyone got to pick their choice of patio and everyone chose the exact same patio design. I thought that was interesting.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be March 31st at 1:00 on our housing site. The luncheon is prior to the groundbreaking at noon in the Student Union Centennial Hall. Due to limited seating not everyone will be able to attend the luncheon. PLEASE try your best to attend the groundbreaking though. We would like the picture to be the 100 collegiates and 100+ alumnae.
Thank you everyone for your patience. This dream has finally come a reality. Move in date set for July 2013, first recruitment in the house will be Fall 2013. Exciting times! This also means that this fall will be the last recruitment in the suites. YAY! I hope everyone can come support our girls and say farewell to the University Hall AOII Suite.

It's finally here!
I can't believe it is finally happening! SORORITY HOUSING FOR ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY! Pinch yourselves because it is not a dream.
2. Design of the front façade
3. Design of the outdoor patio area
We will follow a 2-step selection process based on ASU installation dates to determine in what order our organization will select the above options. Below are the installation dates for the chapters at ASU. These dates have all been confirmed by the national headquarters for each of our groups.
Alpha Gamma Delta: May 8, 1948
Alpha Omicron Pi: February 17, 1949
Chi Omega: February 25, 1961
Delta Zeta: April 6, 1991
The entire selection process will end once all four organizations have made selections for house lot, front façade design, and outdoor patio design.
On Wednesday, February 29th at 5:30pm in the Spring River Room, (located on the 3rd floor of the Carl R. Reng Student Union), we will conduct a Sorority Housing Meeting. Each chapter is asked to have the advisor(s) and the sorority chapter president present at this meeting. This meeting is imperative to our progress as our organization will have the opportunity to make the following selections:
1. Sorority house lot (location of house)2. Design of the front façade
3. Design of the outdoor patio area
We will follow a 2-step selection process based on ASU installation dates to determine in what order our organization will select the above options. Below are the installation dates for the chapters at ASU. These dates have all been confirmed by the national headquarters for each of our groups.
Alpha Gamma Delta: May 8, 1948
Alpha Omicron Pi: February 17, 1949
Chi Omega: February 25, 1961
Delta Zeta: April 6, 1991
In order of earliest to most recent installation date, our organizations will have a turn to make our FIRST selection--location of housing lot OR the front façade design. Please note that this is an either/or choice. Our decision will be dependent on what we deem the most important of those two items. The 1st part of this selection process will end once all four organizations have selected either a house lot or a front façade design.
Once all four chapters have completed their first selection, we will move on to the 2nd round of this process. This process will occur through random drawing. Each chapter will have a ticket in a bowl. In completely random order, we will draw from the bowl. When your organization is drawn, you will select the house lot or front façade design depending on your 1st round selection. In addition, you will choose the outdoor patio design at this time. The entire selection process will end once all four organizations have made selections for house lot, front façade design, and outdoor patio design.
ASU recognizes that these decisions are going to be difficult, and we will want to consult with our critical stakeholders prior to this meeting. As a result, ASU has emailed out images of the overall site plan, front façade, and outdoor patio design options. Please take the days that follow to review these images and determine how you will choose. It is recommended that you rank each option as the selection process may result in you losing your first choice.

The lots and housing style are labeled, please reply in the comments sections with your choice in rank order first choice through 4th choice for both lot and house style. Goody Bag Fundraiser
Every year the Jonesboro AOII Alumnae Chapter sells "Finals Survival" goody bags to the parents of the collegians. Last year we collected money to help purchase items for the goody bags as well as sponsor some goody bags. In the past we only gave bags to girls with parents that purchased a bag. Last year since all the alumnae were so generous by donating so many items and money we were able to give the girls goody bags that wouldn't have received one otherwise. This was a huge mood booster for the girls. They were very excited to receive the bags and some were very surprised and touched to see that they had a bag purchased by an alumna for them. Please consider donating items for the bags and/or making a donation to help supply bags to the girls whose parents don't purchase a bag. Letters to the girls' parents will be mailed next week. I'm hopeful we will have an amazing response from the parents.
The money raised from the selling of these bags goes towards the scholarship that we have at ASU. Please let me know if you are able to help out. We have somewhere between 94-98 girls. In other words, we need a LOT of items to be donated. Reply back to this email and let me know if you will be donating money, store bought goods or homemade goods.
Item examples:
If you would like to donate money please make your check out to me and I'll purchase items for the goody bags or it can be used to purchase a bag for a collegian that won't get one otherwise.

News from Headquarters!
So, let me introduce you to AOII’s newest PR in a Box….”Sisters for Soldiers”!
“Sisters for Soldiers” has been coordinated in partnership with the non-profit organization, Soldiers’ Angels. AOII chapters are encouraged to hold their own “Sister for Soldiers” events on their local campuses and communities. This care package drive is a wonderful way to show AOII’s appreciation to our armed services currently deployed overseas.
Please be on the look-out for all of the details and a complete media kit to be emailed next week. You’ll receive a guidebook for planning your event, sample promotional materials, and promotional artwork.
*Please let me know if any of you alumnae are interested in helping with this project. You can leave a comment directly on the blog.* ~ Lindsay Burnett.

Corks-n-Canvas 2011
Thank you to everyone that attended last night's "Corks-n-Canvas" event. Sarah Wiggins Murphy was kind enough to host everyone at her home and Audra Wilson McClung was kind enough to drive all the way from Fayetteville to teach us how to paint. We had 15 alumnae in attendance and it was a blast. We all decided this would be an annual event. Thanks again Sarah and Audra.

The Bid Day party was held at the home of Devyn Statler. Her parents were so kind and generous to open their home to so many girls. They did an amazing job and the girls had a lot of fun. They played volleyball, jumped on bounce houses and tie-dyed shirts. Their theme was "New Bids on the Block". Everything was very 80's neon. Too Cute!
Thanks to alumnae Sarah Murphy, Megan Morris, Micha Gairhan, Ashlyn Kohler, MaryBeth Dunlap, Mackenzie Sims and Leah Brock for showing up at the Bid Day Party! The girls really appreciate it.
